Community transport organisations in South Yorkshire are looking to recruit more volunteer drivers and passenger assistants.

As a volunteer driver you will become part of a team that provides essential services to people who have difficulty using or are unable to use public transport.

Why should you volunteer?

Through the community transport volunteer scheme, you would be helping to improve the quality of life to the people who need it most, and, without this service would be isolated with no other means of getting out.

Volunteering enriches your life too by creating meaningful connections, building new skills, and making a positive impact on your community.

What does a volunteer driver do?

Volunteer drivers come from diverse backgrounds. Some are retirees looking to stay active, while others are students seeking valuable work experience. Many are employed individuals who want to contribute and give back to their community.

Even just one hour a month can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life and help keep this vital service running.

Typical journeys include:

  • Visits to the hospital or doctors
  • Shopping
  • Social events
  • One off trips
  • Regular weekly or monthly trips
