Health and care partners in South Yorkshire are working to improve care experiences for people with eating disorders.
The overarching vision is:
- To have a South Yorkshire wide approach which supports individuals who have an eating disorder by bringing hope and belief to their recovery journey.
- We will provide help and support to them, their carers, family, and friends so they can help their loved ones recover whilst also looking after their own mental health.
- We will do this by providing a timely and equitable approach that is evidence based, clinically led and patient informed
Preliminary engagement and involvement has been carried out by South Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS) from June 2023 to July 2024 to inform the development of eating disorders services and pathways in Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and Sheffield.
Through these initial engagement activities with people with experiences of eating disorders, a number of key themes have emerged for where improvements could be made. These themes are:
- Access
- Person-centred care
- Service location
- Adult service provision
- Transitions
- Family and/or carer support
- Workforce
Now we are looking to build on these by collecting wider feedback and experiences by asking people to complete a short survey.
The survey is open to anyone who has experience of an eating disorder, and we also welcome responses from family or friends of those with these experiences.

An Easy Read version is being finalised and will be uploaded soon.
