How the VCSE Alliance Works

VCSE organisations across South Yorkshire led co-design work in 2022 to develop the VCSE Alliance. We heard that VCSE organisations want a non-hierarchical structure that is fluid and offers the opportunity to engage in work that matters to them.

We are an Alliance that offers:

  • Information
  • Events and webinars
  • Opportunities to participate in strategic work across South Yorkshire
  • Opportunities to share learning and spotlight some of the good collaboration taking place.

Our Alliance is guided by a steering group that brings together VCSE and ICB leaders. The steering group meets monthly.

The VCSE Alliance Chair is Helen Sims, Chief Officer of Voluntary Action Sheffield. Helen chairs Alliance meetings and attends the System Leaders Executive meetings which brings together leaders from the full Integrated Care System.

The ICB lead is Karen Smith, VCSE Programme Director.

Our terms of reference and MoU are below.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) is in development to set out how the ICS and VCSE will work together to improve health and care outcomes for residents of South Yorkshire. The MoU has been developed by VCSE organisations through a series of co-design workshops and was presented to ICS governance boards. The MoU can be viewed here

The draft terms of reference for the developing Alliance can be found here.

Please note: The terms of reference is a draft and is still undergoing development with partner organisations.
