Patients in South Yorkshire have had their say on local GP practices, dentists and pharmacies, with the majority happy with the services provided.

As part of the GP Patient Survey 2025, patients were asked a range of questions about their practices including accessing appointments, last contact with your GP practice, quality of care, overall experience, experience when your GP practice is closed and experience of pharmacy and dentistry services.

In most indicators South Yorkshire are level or above national responses.

Across South Yorkshire, 76 per cent had a good overall experience of their GP practice, slightly more than the national figure of 75 per cent.

A total of 93 per cent said they had confidence and trust in the healthcare professional at their last appointment, which was the same as the national figure. In addition, 90 per cent felt that their needs were met during their last appointment, which was the same as the national figure.

70 per cent had a good overall experience of contacting their GP practice, which was also the same as the national figure.

In other areas of primary care, 88 per cent had a good overall experience of pharmacy services, which was the same as the national figure and 75 per cent had a good overall experience of NHS dental services, which was higher than the national figure of 71 per cent.

We are pleased with the findings and see this recognition as a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and compassion shown across primary care from reception staff and admin teams to our nurses, doctors, pharmacists and dentists.

Over 2.7 million people took part in the survey nationally which was carried out by NHS England with Ipsos between January and March this year. Over 70,000 questionnaires were sent out across South Yorkshire with just under 19,000 returned.
