Liz Leggott from the Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub was named the HSJ’s Digital Innovator of the Year.
Liz picked up the prize for her work in proving that digital innovation could help tackle some of the biggest issues facing primary care such as:
- A lack of capacity to teach
- Lack of experienced supervisors
- Lack of facilities and space
- The outdated reputation of a job in primary care
- Lack of investment in training
Liz’s project was focussed on tackling these issues by seeing if digital tools could make a difference.
She worked on expanding capacity and access and bringing training to life to make it more engaging, both of which showed incredibly positive results.
When asked her thoughts on picking up the Digital Innovator of the Year award Liz said:
“The work being recognised is a really big deal both for me and the Hub.
“I don't have a digital background, nor am I an educator or clinical.
“So, I think if I can get it, then I can explain it to anyone.
“It's brought recognition to the Hub and highlighted our supportive culture of 'let's try it!' without fear of failure.
“I am so overwhelmed and excited to have won but it's testament to Louise and the culture of the Hub that I've manged to succeed. For that, I'll be eternally grateful.”
Liz is proof that innovation is always possible with effort and hard work; well done Liz and the Primary Care Workforce & Training Hub!
