Health services in Doncaster will be offering a local and convenient ‘drive-through’ flu vaccination session to encourage all eligible adults registered with a Doncaster GP Practice who’ve not yet had their flu vaccination, to come forward and protect themselves and others this winter.

However, if you have had your flu vaccination since 1st September 2022, then you are already protected for this flu season. You do not need to have another flu vaccination this season.

The drive-through will be held on Saturday 11th February 2023 between 10.00am and 2.30pm at the Eco Power Stadium at Lakeside.

The flu vaccine is given free on the NHS to adults who are:

  • aged 50 and over (including those who will be 50 by 31st March 2023)
  • in a clinical risk group
  • carers
  • close contacts of immunosuppressed individuals
  • frontline health and social care staff
  • pregnant

Dr Nabeel Alsindi, a Doncaster GP and Medical Director for the ICB in Doncaster, said: “This initiative is part of the Health Inequalities work we’re doing in partnership with Primary Care Networks and Doncaster Council. We’re particularly focused on improving access to health services for those experiencing barriers in accessing their vaccinations and making it convenient for local people. We would encourage those to come forward as it’s important to continue to reach out to as many people as we can.”

There’s no appointment needed just attend the drive-through at the Stadium!

It’s important to have your flu vaccination as there is still a higher rate of flu infections circulating and therefore, people are still at risk of catching flu. Whilst flu is unpleasant for most people it can be dangerous and even life-threatening for some, particularly those with certain health conditions.
