Rebecca McMinn, Advanced Clinical practitioner Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy lead, at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, won the Excellence in Immuno-Oncology Award at the Immuno-Oncology Clinical Network (IOCN) Awards.
The Awards recognise outstanding contributions in immuno-oncology in the UK.
Rebecca was selected as this year’s winner in recognition of her leadership and innovation in the management of treatment-related side effects and service development. She has led and contributed to a wide range of initiatives locally and across the South Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and North Derbyshire region.
Her work has strengthened multidisciplinary collaboration, improved patient monitoring and safety, and contributed to more equitable access to specialist toxicity support across the region. She also continues to contribute nationally through policy, governance and education initiatives within the immuno-oncology community.
Speaking about her award, Rebecca said:
“Immunotherapy has transformed cancer treatment by helping the immune system recognise and attack cancer cells. While this has improved outcomes for many people, some patients experience significant side effects when the immune system becomes overactive and starts affecting healthy organs. This recognition means a great deal and reflects the dedication of everyone involved in advancing immuno‑onocology practice."
