We are delighted to announce that NHS South Yorkshire and NHS West Yorkshire Integrated Care Boards have been shortlisted in the prestigious Nursing Times Awards for creating, developing and sustaining nurse and carer partnerships across South Yorkshire.
The long-standing nursing awards shine a light on the brightest talent in the profession and includes 24 categories covering a range of nursing specialities from mental health to clinical research and children’s care.
The two Integrated Care Boards have been shortlisted in two categories The HRH Prince of Wales Award and the Nursing in the community award.
Sheffield, through its established multi agency partnership, has an ambitious Carers Delivery Plan led by the Council that it continues to work on. As part of this plan it was agreed that in November 2023 a first Sheffield Carer Roadshow in the Winter Gardens would be held with the aim of raising awareness of carers across the City and offering support to not only carers, but health care professionals and businesses.
NHS South Yorkshire Sheffield place team led on the delivery of the Roadshow with the Primary Care Development (PCDN) nursing team on site during the event offering blood pressure checks and health advice. The inclusion of the PCDN team has now been embedded within carer events which includes having pop up stalls within the Moor Market for the last two years during Carers Weeks , in addition to this year offering drop ins for NHS and Council staff carers.
The carer roadshow concept was replicated in Barnsley and Leeds and as a collective across the two ICBs, NHS England nominated both organisations for the Nursing Times award, which they have now been shortlisted for.
NHS South Yorkshire Chief Nursing Officer Cathy Winfield said: “The Nursing Times Awards brings together the nursing community to showcase the amazing talent in the profession and recognise those making nursing innovative, patient-focused and inclusive.
“Congratulations to both teams for being shortlisted for this award which recognises the fantastic partnership work going on between our nurses and carers.”
