A new film has been produced to help explain why cancer is everyone’s business across South Yorkshire and Bassetlaw.

Released for the first time on World Cancer Day today, the film shows how individuals, organisations and communities are ‘showing up’ to recognise cancer as a long-term condition and pledge to take measures to help reduce and prevent it.

You can see the film here on Facebook.

The film, from the SYB Shows Up team, features many of the people who’ve been helping to shape the region’s new cancer strategy and its associated ‘Shows Up’ social movement over the past few months.

Among those taking action are the Mayor of South Yorkshire, Oliver Coppard, Yorkshire Cancer Research’s Active Together programme, Sheffield Hallam University’s Advanced Wellbeing Research Centre, and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals.

Also taking part in the film are the University Technical College, South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue and the SYB Cancer Alliance, alongside some of our top football clubs and community groups including Bassetlaw’s Focus on Farming project.

Many more employers, schools, colleges, health and fitness experts and sports organisations are signing up. You can too.

Let’s all ‘show up’ to tackle cancer.
