On 29 October, NHS South Yorkshire and Barnsley Metropolitan Borough Council held a pop up Covid and Flu vaccine drop-in session at the Library @ Lightbox in Barnsley.
People with learning disabilities and school age children were invited to ‘drop in’ and get their vaccines to protect themselves ahead of winter.
In total, 46 Covid and Flu vaccines were given out with 13 flu vaccines being delivered via a nasal spray method rather than injection.
One mother who attended with her son said how she found out about the drop in at her son’s school and that she ‘was really happy with the offer and service’.
The event was a real success as the winter vaccine campaign continues to be rolled out across South Yorkshire.
The pop up helped to open vaccines access for vulnerable people in a quick and efficient way, giving them all important protection for winter.
It is especially important for people with learning difficulties to get vaccinated, to learn more about the importance of vaccines for people with learning difficulties click here.
