South Yorkshire Integrated Care System (ICS) Children and Young People’s Alliance have been hearing from young people about what matters most to them in the places and spaces where they live, learn, work and access health services.

NHS South Yorkshire is part of a programme of work, in partnership with Barnardo’s and the Institute of Health Equity, to design a Children and Young People’s Health Equity Framework.

They want to identify the social determinants likely to have the biggest effect on health for children and young people to see who is likely to be most impacted by them.

The development of the framework is being supported by children and young people, and Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) partners in the ICS region to improve outcomes for children and young people.

Nicola Ennis, Programme Lead for the South Yorkshire Children and Young People’s Alliance said, “It is important we listen to young people about the services they use to find out their views to make changes that are meaningful and right for them.

“We recently held an event where children and young people spoke about how they have started to help shape this exciting new project and shared their thoughts, opinions and needs about what makes them healthy and well, which we will take away to shape the services they use.”
