Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework: 2024 to 2025 and 2025 to 2026

Clinician talks with patients

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC), NHS England and Community Pharmacy England (CPE) have agreed funding arrangements for the Community Pharmacy Contractual Framework (CPCF) for 2024 to 2025 and 2025 to 2026, and Pharmacy First.

Funding rose to £2.698 billion (4.1%) for 2024 to 2025 to cover the activity delivered by the sector and will rise to £3.073 billion in 2025 to 2026. This represents a 19.7% increase on 2023 to 2024 funding levels on a like-for-like basis and 15% on 2024 to 2025.

Funding for Pharmacy First and other Primary Care Access Recovery Plan services is confirmed at £215 million and can be earned in addition to the CPCF funding. DHSC and NHS England further agreed to write off £193 million of historic medicines margin over-delivery. The prioritisation of funding for community pharmacy from 2025 to 2026 is recognition of the sector’s contribution to the health of communities and patient care.

Some of the key contractual arrangements include: allocating £900m to medicines margin, expanding contraception to include emergency contraception and NMS to include depression and better use of pharmacy team skill mix for smoking cessation service and contraception services. The PQS scheme will continue at a value of £30m with a focus on Pharmacy First and contraception services, palliative and EOLC, respiratory, and depression training. Up to £8m has been secured to better support the digital enablement of clinical services.

Funding opportunity: South Yorkshire ICB Type 2 Diabetes Programme

Type2 diabetes funding opportunity

We are excited to announce an opportunity for community organisations to apply for funding to support the South Yorkshire ICB Type 2 Diabetes Programme and would appreciate any support in promoting this opportunity.

South Yorkshire ICB is providing £8,000 in funding to support five community-led outreach projects across South Yorkshire. The aim is to improve the reach and impact of diabetes care—particularly among populations most at risk and least likely to engage with mainstream services. This funding opportunity supports innovative programmes dedicated to diabetes prevention and management within our community.

We welcome expressions of interest from organisations that are deeply embedded in their communities and have experience working with Type 2 diabetes clients.

Successful proposals will demonstrate cultural sensitivity, innovative approaches, and a well-defined strategy for engagement and making a meaningful impact within the population through education and awareness initiatives.

We invite organisations to submit proposals that focus on four specific areas highlighted in the expression of interest form.
